Retired Teacher Killed in Robbery as Police Seek Stolen Probox
A 66-year-old retired teacher, Addmore Chirombe, was reportedly killed during a robbery, with a stolen Probox now being sought in Harare and surrounding areas.
A 66-year-old retired teacher, Addmore Chirombe, has reportedly been killed during a robbery, with authorities and the public now being asked to help locate a Probox vehicle allegedly stolen during the incident.
According to a public appeal circulated by Crime Watch ZW, the vehicle, registration AHR 1592, was taken from the property along with several other items.
Chirombe was reportedly at home with his farm worker, identified as Arnold Musamadya, when the incident occurred.
Farm worker sought for questioning
Chirombe's body was discovered on Wednesday morning.
According to the appeal, Musamadya has since disappeared, prompting the family to suspect that he may have information that could assist investigators.
That suspicion has not been established as fact, and it remains unclear whether Musamadya is a suspect or simply a person police may wish to locate as part of their investigation.
Vehicle reportedly traced towards Harare
The stolen Probox was reportedly seen entering Harare through the Boka Tollgate at about 10:21pm on Tuesday, 8 September.
The vehicle could therefore be somewhere in Harare or surrounding areas, according to the public appeal.
Other items reportedly stolen during the robbery include:
- A generator
- An irrigation water pump
- A bale of clothes intended for resale
- Groceries
- The Probox vehicle, registration AHR 1592
- The vehicle's registration book
The circumstances surrounding Chirombe's death, the identity of those responsible and the whereabouts of the missing farm worker remain subject to investigation.
Public urged to assist
Members of the public who may have seen the Probox or have information that could assist investigators are being urged to report to the nearest police station.
